5000 Years of Indian Natural Beauty
Ayurveda is an ancient system (historically the practice of Ayurveda dates back to the Indus Valley Civilisation which is 5,000 years old) of health care that is native to the Indian subcontinent. It is presently in daily use by millions of people. The Ayurvedic philosophy refers to the “knowledge of life” or “knowledge of long life”. According to Ayurveda life itself is defined as the combination of the body, sense organs, mind and souls. According to this perspective, Ayurveda is concerned with healthy living related to physical, mental, social and spiritual harmony. Ayurveda is a form of traditional medicine that believes that various materials of natural origin have some medicinal value. The medicinal properties of these materials are time tested and have been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicines to cure illness and /or help maintain health. Ayurvedic medicaments are made from herbs or mixtures of herbs, either alone or in combination with other natural ingredients. All ingredients are purified by individual processes before being used for medicinal purposes. Non purified materials are not allowed to be used as medicine. The central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the theory that health exists when there is balance between three fundamental bodily humors or doshas called Vata (air), Pitta (fire) and Kapha (water and earth).
